Chelsea Murray grew up on a dairy farm in Scoudouc. After graduating from Moncton High School in 2003, she began a degree at Carleton University in Ottawa and finished at the University of King's College in Halifax with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in Journalism.

In the year following her graduation, she completed an internship at Halifax Magazine and spent nine months as a contract writer for the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, where she wrote about farmers participating in Nova Scotia's Environmental Farm Plan and other similar agricultural programs.

Murray will be working full-time at the Kings County Record this summer before heading to Toronto in the fall to start a Masters of Journalism at Ryerson University.
