Sussex Corner up for grabs

Today's election has plenty of selection
SUSSEX CORNER - Sussex Corner - The village is the local hot spot during today's municipal elections being held throughout the province, with three men vying for the mayor's job, and eight people hoping for one of five council seats.
That is in marked contrast to Sussex, where Mayor Ralph Carr was acclaimed, and eight people are contesting seven seats. Seven of the eight are incumbent councillors.
In Norton, Mayor Wendy Alcorn was also acclaimed, although five people are running for four seats.
In Hampton, former councillor Ken Chorley has been acclaimed mayor after Mayor Jim Hovey did not reoffer. Eight people are in the race for four seats. Only one current councillor, Dwight Bond, has reoffered.
Finally, in Petitcodiac, Peter Saunders has been acclaimed mayor, after the untimely death of the village's mayor, Gary Armstrong, last year. Eight men are contesting five council seats.
Check back on this site Monday evening for results from all five communities.
