We love Canadian country

Continuing last year's theme for Canada Day, I've asked some of your favourites who their favourite Canadian country artists are.
"I actually have many favourites in Canadian country music, such as Paul Brandt, Shania Twain, Hank Snow and a host of others," said Hazel-Marie Robertson.
"But if I had to pick one, it would have to be kd lang. I just love how she sings, and pours her whole heart and soul into a song. She manages to touch the deepest part of you when she sings a ballad, or anything she sings, for that matter."
Lang, said Robertson, has such raw emotion in her voice that she makes you feel like you are watching a short movie when you listen to her sing. Robertson feels lang belongs in the same category of women such as Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and other greats, including Patsy Cline.
"Patsy being my favourite all-time country singer ever," she said.
Robertson is organizing the Hampton Canada Day gospel concert on June 29. This will be the fifth annual concert and this year proceeds are going to the Hampton Food Bank. Robertson has lined up some exceptional talent: Golden Harmony, Living Water Quartet, Brenda Jones, singer/songwriter/recording artist Dwayne Drost, vocalist Norma Smith, Greg Stevens, Gerry Cormier and renowned fiddler Allison Inch will be on stage. Robertson, who is in both the New Brunswick Gospel and Country Music Halls of Fame, will also perform. The show is at Hampton High School. Showtime is 7 p.m. and tickets are $10. For more information call Robertson at 506-832-4949.
"That's a tough one, but I really enjoy listening to Emerson Drive. They have made such a name for themselves and they sound great," said Joan Kennedy.
"There are many and it is hard to single out just one, but if I had to, it would be Ronnie Prophet," said solo recording artist and member of Lost Highway, Steve Lyons.
"I like the all around entertainment package he has developed. The singing, guitar playing, the jokes, the stories and the way he gets the audience involved in his shows. He is an amazing one-man talent that I enjoy everytime I see him."
In Sussex, Gary Morris Entertainment will present a long line-up of talent from 2-10 p.m. at Burton Park on Canada Day. Country fans will find much to like among the performers. I don't have stage times for each act, but the performers include Crossroads, Randy Vail and Lost Highway, Ivan and Vivian Hicks, the Anderson Dancers, Allison Inch, Kaitlyn Post, Generation Gap, Micah MacLennan, We the Undersigned, the busy Al Smith, Al's Angels, Corey McAllister, Theresa Richard, Carmen Cruickshank, Andy Hunter, young country recording artists Madison Dupere and Brianne Chase, Bryan Crandall and Colleen Bannister and Randy and Cheryl Currie performing in their Marshall's Hill trio. The fireworks start at 10:13 p.m.
Apohaqui has musical talent lined up for Canada Day in Jones' Memorial Park. Al Smith will give a musical welcome to everyone at 1:45 p.m. before the official opening. At 3 p.m. the Happy Go Lucky Fiddlers will perform. At 7 p.m. Randy Vail and Lost Highway play their second gig for the day. The fireworks display is scheduled for 10 p.m.
