Letter to the editor | District 3 continues to reorganize and work with the community

Editor's note This is National Police Week in Canada, a time to remember and salute the dedication and service provided by law enforcement. The following message comes from the RCMP's District 3 commander, Inspector S. Kier MacQuarrie.
I am now in my second year as the District Commander for District 3 Kennebecasis. We have completed most of the work in relation to the reorganization of our district. As a result we have received many positive comments on the improved visibility and satisfaction within our communities.
Our Community Consultative Group, made up of representatives from mayor, councillors and local service district representatives, continues to meet and discuss issues of mutual concern.
Civilian member Tanya Warren is our new community program officer, who will work throughout the district and focus most of her time on youth and senior initiatives.
Our members, including our Kennebecasis Plain Clothes Unit, have had another very successful year in their pursuit of reducing drug trafficking within the district.
We continue to work with and share information with our policing partners, the Saint John Police Service and the Rothesay Regional Police Service. Within the last month Sgt. Don Allen of our Sussex post and Sgt. Greg Grant of our Grand Bay-Westfield post have been promoted and transferred. Their positions will be staffed within the next few months.
I continue to receive support from the mayors, councillors, local service groups, volunteers, administrative staff and members of District 3. I appreciate the support and will continue to strive to provide safe homes and safe communities.
Inspector S. Kier MacQuarrie
RCMP District 3 Commander
Hampton
